Nanodispersed fluorescent pigment ink based on perylene derivatives Reference Number B70069 Origin Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Patent Status DE [03/2010]
Offer cooperation, license, option, purchase, world-wide, exclusive Background Dye-based inks are generally used for inkjet applications, much stronger than pigment-based inks, which commonly are available as black colour. Such dyes are dissolved in the liquid phase, they have a tendency to soak into paper, thus making the ink less efficient and also potentially allowing the ink to bleed at the edges of an image, producing poor quality printing. Often such dye-based inks are UV- sensitive and tend to bleed in wet conditions. To avoid such problems, dye-based inks are made with solvents that dry rapidly, but are environmentally questionable. Innovation New perylene- derivatives connected to polymer structures, disperse spontaneous in water and generate highly dispersed nano pigment inks. One of the materials exhibits a purely blue shade with mainly fluorescence in the NIR, for machine reading. The other one is bluish violet with a visible red fluorescence. This ink can not be removed from paper neither by water nor by alcohol nor by DMF or mixtures of the solvents and it is completely resistant concerning 25% bleach and extraordinarily light fast. Because of the nano particles there should be no close of the ink-jet nozzles. The excellent qualities of this pigment ink make it also resistant to smearing, bleeding, and fading under bright light and wet conditions. Benefits - Alternative for dye- based inks - High colour quality - Waterborne - Fluorescence in the NIR - machine reading - Resistant to bleach and UV- radiation Developmental Status - Proof of concept - Synthesized compounds - Optional support by cooperation with inventing scientific group
