Patent purchase agreements signed between BayPAT and Linde
Oct 28, 2024
Munich, Germany, October 24th, 2024 - BayPAT, service provider offering services in the area of technology transfer, IP management and commercialization, today announced that it has entered into patent purchase agreements with Linde GmbH. The contractual items are several patent applications for technologies developed in collaboration with scientists of the Technical University of Munich which are relevant for the production of gases like hydrogen or ammonia with renewable energy sources.
An important aspect of the climate debate is the role of hydrogen and its production. In this context, the ultimate goal is to produce hydrogen using renewable energies, so-called green or renewable hydrogen. This green hydrogen is crucial not only for direct application but also for producing other essential gases such as ammonia, thereby enabling the production of green ammonia. However, as sun and wind are no constant energy sources, the processes for producing these gases need to be flexible for us at low and high loads according to the availbale educt gas quantities. The available energy determines the feed gas production. Therefore, in order to put the green production of gases like ammonia into practice, existing processes must be adapted to variable loads.
The team of inventors at the Technical University of Munich, with their extensive experience in process engineering and simulation, is gearing up for new projects in this field.
BayPAT negotiated the patent purchase agreement with a selected team of experts and thus set the course for the successful transfer of the innovation into industrial applications. “The new technologies jointly developed by the Technical University of Munich and Linde represent significant advancements towards the green production of chemicals. We are delighted to have facilitated the transition to climate-neutral gas production by signing agreements with one of the world's largest industrial gas manufacturers,” said Dr. Robert Phelps, Managing Director of BayPAT.
