Sami joined BayPat as a Licensing Manager in the field of life sciences in 2019. He is involved in the entire business development and licensing process to commercialize inventions.
Sami’s professional background is molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics. In 2011 Sami received his doctorate degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in the field of structural biology. His work on designed enzymes explains how structural changes through directed evolution completely remodeled an entire enzymatic active site. Subsequently, Sami continued academic research as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver to study novel glucohydrolase-inhibitors that can be used as oral anti-diabetic drugs. During his time in Canada he also joined the national research network GlycoNet as „Highly Qualified Personnel“ to address challenges in diabetes and obesity research through academic and industrial collaborations.
